A ku with stunning imagery!

Laurie Greer shares with us how this poem was born.

The circumstances were simple. I saw a recently dead bird on the sidewalk, and busy ants taking him apart. I wanted to write some kind of memorial, but didn’t know what. Then one day the word “cortège” came to mind, and the haiku was there. The bird may or may not have been a fledgling, but that seemed to belong there.
