Here's what Cherie Hunter Day has to say about the poem:
I do recall the inspiration for this haiku. My husband had been without employment for six months or so. We discussed various solutions, and one was for me to change jobs. As I looked at my resume it seemed paltry. It rains in southern California in winter, sometimes heavily but nowhere near monsoon-level rain. Rain is the source of life in so many places. This haiku is hopeful. Despite my work experience being slim, the rains would provide the much-needed water.
A classic poem!
Every word is perfect. So many layers to this one. A masterclass in haiku.
Brilliant! Loved it.
