I really don't remember reading this poem, but the puzzle remains. I had written a tanka on the same lines.

stuck midway
questions i never thought
would be asked of me

the above is just a scribbling in my diary and i don't know whether it will make any sense to the readers or so on. But the fact remains that thoughts do proclaim to be on the same wavelength.
