Conversations in Tanka, by Amelia Fielden, Port Adelaide, Australia: Ginninderra Press, 2014.
Editor's Note: The theme is ' The Ephemeral'. My endeavour here is to feature the poems that portray the ephemerality of things and emotions.
Simple words that leave a deep impression. Tender and lovely!
Nice tanka, Sanjuktaa. And so true!
This is a beautiful one that tugs lightly at the heart. The first 2 lines set the context so well. We wonder what the age of the daughter is, and start to go in the direction of wondering when my kids will start to do the same.
The 3rd line is the beginning of Volta. The last two lines bring some comfort.
Enjoyed reading this!
WoW!!
The first two lines stole my heart and mind.
'old enough now
to refuse my hugs'
And the last two lines with the repitetion of 'that' stressing the fact or should I say with guilt!!
Lovely!
