Somehow this isn't working for me. That 'orphan' didn't work (for me.) That's fine too.

It's not necessary all poems must work for everyone at all times.

Matthew Caretti writes of his experiences in a manner that reaches deep within the reader. The rhythm of the rains and the laughter links the images but what reaches out, is that it is laughter despite our condition. What I see is the joy in simple things, in nature. This poem however, is not one of just skill and technique in writing haiku - it's about the truth of the moment (for me). Thank you, Matthew, as always, for bringing these moments of joy, of sabi to us. And for getting me to think of the more important truths.

"The joy in every moment of life"

rhythm of an orphan's laughter, so beautiful and connecting it so well with the rhythm of rains too!

Thank you, Lakshmi - yes, that joy in every moment.

Sometimes, that alone makes a haiku. I know that you agree too. :)
