The Homo sapiens coexist with numerous species of wildlife on this planet Earth. As haiku poets, I believe that we would be a little more aware and conscious of the beauty of nature that surrounds us. I wanted to focus on the splendour of wildlife that abounds both faraway from human habitation as well as those that are found a little more frequently around human dwellings. The love for nature and wildlife piques one’s curiosity to learn more about them. This is much needed for the conservation of the many endangered species.

Loved the poem and the depth of the ku. Carol's commentary is awesome!!!
I've been living abroad for about 16 years. There's a lot in me in that verse even though the "I" is not mentioned straightforwardly. During summer and especially mid-June to mid-July, swifts are all over my estate (I used the word "swallows" as I prefer it for its musicality within this verse). When I come back from work after 10 pm, walking, I can see them zooming around the place very low and twittering. It makes me happy. I am welcomed home. And so, I asked myself... what you read above.
