Background to the haiku: walking the park next to a mill stream, I notice a Canada geese pair with three goslings. I stop to observe them and hear the soft twitters being exchanged. The goslings ripple away from mom until she calls them back. She "reads the wind" by assessing the environment and twittering a warning if necessary.
