Here is the poet talking about this poem.


When Basho penned his iconic "crow" poem nearly 350 years ago, I wonder if he realized right away that he had something special. He'd probably be astonished to learn how many languages it has since been translated into. This monoku is a simple acknowledgement that my "autumn crow" is being expressed in English - an expression that wouldn't exist without the poem from centuries ago.
