Here is the beautiful backstory by Robert Epstein.


I have some fuzzy recollections about the origin of the poem that I am happy to 

share, though I cannot precisely recall what time of year it was. My best guess would be late summer or early fall. The sun would have been out on this early afternoon outing. I had been walking on a path at a favorite park in Marin County, which offers a beautiful view of the San Francisco Bay and City in the distance.  I was troubled by a relationship with someone who was (and still is) very important to me.  I saw a vacant bench by the water and sat down, brooding.  My thinking mind was caught…
