Ha! I didn't get it until I read it as a Cardigan Welsh corgie, and then I saw the doggie frolicking in a meadow amongst the daisies. . . oh, my. How's that for ma?---intentional or not!

I am not mature enough in haiku art to comment on this. However, quite recently, I came across two monoku and heard Ben Gaa comment on them. One was a haiku in Heron's Nest that ran "out of the blue heron" and the other was published in tsuri-dōrō and read "oolong darkening news of your death". As far as the first went, Ben pointed out "blue" to be the pivot and explained that it could be read as "out of the blue" pause "blue heron". Put these two together and you see the picture. This monoku was written about twelve years ago, originally as a three-line haiku. It was quite spontaneous in its construction and subject. I was flicking through an art book and merged a couple of images together in my mind: the cardigan and the daisies. This combination brought a character in a popular British soap opera to mind who is very happy-go-lucky and would often wear something like a floral cardigan. Of course, the verse lends itself to other readings, and not just that of a floral cardigan, nor just that of someone who is happy-go-lucky.
