daisies—
learning to live
in a crowd again
-- Tony Williams
(Third place tie in the Haiku Society of America’s Harold G Henderson competition, 2021.)
This is one of those endearing poems that I liked from the very beginning. I hope you too will like it, dear readers, and be able to relate to it in some way.
Tony Williams says:
The poem itself was a post-lockdown reaction. Having seen so few people and been cooped up indoors for so long, I found I had strangely trepidatious thoughts about mixing with strangers. I realised I would have to adjust to being a ‘daisy’ again in a crowd of similar ‘daisies’!
Very sweet poem.
