Here is what the poet says about the poem :

"arrowroot" is actually a personal favorite of mine and was featured in Frogpond 44.2. It's mostly about how loss accumulates and becomes a part of who we are, and how we can accept it in our lives. It's something we all face, and while it can be overwhelming, it's important to recognize its purpose. Sometimes we can gather strength from what we have already endured.

Lovely poem. A very rare usage.

Such a poignant use of wordplay with the arrowroot and Cupid's arrows. I love the poignancy of this one.

That is very clever, I like the juxtaposition of arrowroot and heartbreak, since Cupid is known to fire his arrows. Then of course there is the word 'grow' and arrowroot is a vegetable that obviously grows. A thoughtful and interesting verse. Thanks for sharing.

Lovely juxtaposition!

Arrowroot is a very genuine vegetable most loved by the mediocre middle class family who fill themselves with the sustenance and price rather than upper class. Somehow it is well relished here in Kerala and the day starts with adjustments and understanding!

The rest is well explained in few words.

Thank you

Arrowroot is also consumed on full moon day in this part of the world. So the images flow but naturally.
