Susan Beth Furst brings in the sound of old satin and tulle in this aural poem, that automatically leads us to the sensation of textures and the visual delight of gardenias. (Please do read Billie Dee's commentary below on the haiku - for the beautiful cultural associations and the rhythm of the haiku as well!)
On another note, the haiku took me to the rustle of Kanchipuram Silks in my own place - something that I associate with festivities and the month of Marghazhi (roughly Dec-Jan) where classical music concerts rule the calendar, and the rustle of silk goes along quite beautifully with traditional Indian Carnatic music instruments and singing.
