“Make your life a haiku: simple, elegant and full of meaning.”
--- Francine Jay, The Joy of Less A more minimal statement that gets to the marrow of a haiku, I have yet to come across. While the writer is sharing her opinion on how to live life – as if it were a haiku – it is the elements that she chooses to describe haiku, that makes one marvel at the impact of this statement. The simplicity and elegance of the three short lines that pull a reader in, and then the unpeeling of its layers, one by one by one, each time offering a glimpse of something new…is that not life? Is that not a haiku?
Haikai literature is the poster child of minimalism where less is truly more. What are your views?
